One of two (at the moment) formal fund raising committees in the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group area, formed with the sole purpose of assisting in raising funds for the benefit of cancer patients residing in the Royal United Hospital catchment area. * (See map) Our inaugural meeting took place in April 1988 when Charles Thompson, the then Bath Cancer Unit Support Group Chairman, outlined the activities and aims of the Bath Group. A committee of ten was formed that very evening (three of whom still serve today i.e. Joyce Maltby and June and Robin Dallimore) with our first meeting, taking place the following month on the 17th May at the Trowbridge Business Centre.

Our present Chairman, Tino Polledri, a local business man, was involved in that initial formation and has in fact been in the "chair", since May of 1989, when he succeeded David Williams. Our Vice Chairperson, June Dallimore continued to serve in this capacity until she replaced our then Hon.Secretary, Gerry Day.

In 1993 however, June, due to business and health commitments handed these duties on to our present Hon.Secretary, Jeanne Ingham-Law, who continues to this day in this key task. Basil Pursall, our Treasurer a long serving stalwart since 1989 has now relinquished this post, in early 2003 and handed these duties on to Carole Silver.  Carole and her family settled in the locality 6 years ago and in recent years became closely acquainted with cancer.  The R.U.H. in Bath was there for them during this difficult time which was when Carole became aware of the need for funding at the hospital and for that reason joined our ranks.  She will be treading very carefully but firmly in the footsteps of Basil, who is not forsaking us completely, but will continue to assist us in our fund raising and will no doubt be keeping a helpful eye on his replacement. June and Robin Dallimore are still as committed as ever and are still like other members, "beavering" away with their fund raising activities. The committee, who number 10 or so in all, meet once a month, when finance, expenditure, events and planning etc are discussed.
